Malaysia Trip 2022/2023 Day 7: Kota Kinabalu

Baggage status: Baggage status: 1/3 in Tokyo?, 1/3 in Incheon, 1/3 in Toronto?

Another morning at Le Meridien. Another breakfast at Latest Recipe. Another meal of nasi lemak. Today, they had calamari curry! Interesting, as I’ve never had this before. I also tried their chicken noodle, which was good and lighter version compared to their beef soup.

After, breakfast we headed off to Baby Wonderland again to look for some baby goods. Luckily, they were open today and we were able to purchase a travel cot to use at the airbnb we’re moving to tomorrow. They also had a good selection of baby soaps, detergents, snacks and diapers here as well so we loaded up on some baby essentials while here.

We didn’t really have time for lunch today so we had some buns purchased by one of the aunties who visited. I had the pineapple custard bun and and red bean bun.

After baby woke up from her nap, we headed to the hotel pool for a dip in the baby pool. It wasn’t terribly hot or sunny today and the water was a bit on the colder side so we didn’t stay too long.

We were a bit in a snacking mood so we headed to the club lounge for cocktail hour. I had a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon which was surprisingly good with a selection of hors d’oeuvres. I particularly enjoyed the pate on crostini.

We didn’t fill up too much on food because shortly after, it was dinner time at a nearby Chinese seafood restaurant – Welcome Seafood Restaurant! This restaurant was very large with many indoor and outdoor seating. We had a large table booked in the indoor area which was not too busy. Aaron’s auntie was the host today and treated us to a seafood feast of geoduck, crabs, prawns, grouper, sea snails, Aaron particularly enjoyed the dry butter prawns which is actually topped with fried custard shreds. It was so good, Aaron almost licked the plate. Little baby was even able to try some of the steamed fish here! Aaron paired this mean with Tiger beer and myself with kit chai ping but less sweet this time. It was still too sweet for me so next time, I will get no sugar. I think a beer would have gone better with this meal but I was afraid to go use public washrooms after yesterday’s experience. Eventually, I needed to brave it and it actually wasn’t as bad as I thought. The floor was a bit wet but at least the seats were dry and they even had toilet paper!
