Art-Is-In Pizza Night!
You might have read my previous post re: Art-Is-In Bakery having the best sandwiches in Ottawa and as an update, it still holds true. I have often felt that it was a shame that they were only open during the day for brunch/lunch (when most people have work) and they tend to be very busy… Continue reading Art-Is-In Pizza Night!
Japan 2.0: Day 8 (Tokyo)
We were craving ramen again and we really wanted to try Ichiran Ramen this trip, so we figured that having this first thing in the morning was a good idea. There is usually a long line for this famous chain, by going first thing in the morning, we were able to get seats for the 4 of us quite easily. Ordering was simple, you can order your ramen at the vending machine and then bring your tickets to your assigned cubicle. This is a meal for one, so expect to focus on your food instead of socializing with others. ...Continue reading
Japan 2.0: Day 7 (Kanazawa – Tokyo)
It was nice to be able to finally sleep in a little today. We decided to eat our Osaka specialties we fought very hard to acquire yesterday (the 551 Horai nikuman and the Uncle Rikuro cheesecake) for breakfast. It was unbelievable! ...Continue reading
Japan 2.0: Day 6 (Kinosaki – Osaka – Kanazawa)
A good day begins with a good breakfast, and we did not have to go very far, as breakfast is served at the ryokan. We headed upstairs to the banquet hall to be greeted with a table full of food once again. It was a traditional Japanese breakfast with its staple miso soup, rice, a raw egg, nori (seaweed) and fish. There are also various pickles and sides, a fish cake patty, a western-style salad and a pillowy tamago. Don’t forget the simple boiled tofu in the nabe. For drinks, we were served both a baby glass of milk as well as some green tea. It was a nice way to start the day, making me wish that all my days started with such a wholesome breakfast. ...Continue reading
Japan 2.0: Day 5 (Kyoto – Amanohashidate – Kinosaki)
It was a rainy day in Kyoto. We braved the rain, dragged our bags, and headed over to the car rental office to pick up our Subaru for the next leg of our trip. The plan was to head over to Kinosaki, but not before stopping by Amanohashidate on the way. ...Continue reading
Japan 2.0: Day 4 (Kyoto)
We were on a mission to try to beat the rush at Fushimi Inari, one of the most iconic tourist sights in Kyoto, so we quickly grabbed some breakfast at a convenience store in Kyoto Station. I had their tuna and egg sandwich which was simple and lovely especially encased in the fluffy cloud-like white bread. Aaron had the udon which was not bad for a convenience store udon. Then we shared the tuna mayo onigiri which is always a good go-to item. Really wishing that we have all these types of food items in Canadian convenience stores as well! ...Continue reading

9 Tips on Improving the In-flight Experience
As much as I love travelling, the actual act of travelling to a dream destination can be very dreadful at times. It is definitely not fun being squished into narrow, questionably-comfortable seats, with limited leg room, alongside hundreds of strangers. Here, I’ve complied a list of things you can bring/do, to make your journey more enjoyable. ...Continue reading
Japan 2.0: Day 3 (Kyoto)
It was a sleepless night for most of us as we were jet-lagged. We set off early at 8am to begin our journey in Kyoto. We wanted something quick and easy, so we stopped by Matsuya for some breakfast. Because I just had the traditional Japanese breakfast yesterday, I decided to have the beef and egg rice bowl instead. It was alright. Definitely not the best gyudon I’ve had. ...Continue reading
