Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all restaurants are closed for dining-in. I will try to highlight local restaurants which are still open and offering take-out and delivery options in the meantime. Fratelli has a take-out menu in which they are doing contactless takeout through their front window. You just have to call them ahead of time to make your order and pay for it by phone. They also have a delivery option but I don’t think this is available every night as it was not available when we called.

When I think about a nice evening out with a lovely meal, I often think about Fratelli. I used to frequent here very often when I lived in the area and now I would go once in a while for special occasions. I had a great time celebrating my birthday here a few years ago in their private dining room downstairs. It was amazing and probably one of the most enjoyable birthday celebrations I’ve ever had.
Location/Ambience
Fratelli has two locations, one in Westboro and one in Kanata. We’ve only been to the Westboro location. It is located on Richmond Street where you can find some street parking on the main street or in the neighbourhood. They have a cozy patio in the front which is open during the summer months. As I mentioned above, they have a lovely private dining room downstairs for parties or events.
Drinks
My drink of choice here is usually a red wine which pairs nicely with their comforting food. They have a good selection of Italian and not Italian wines. They are offering 25% off their bottles of wine with take-out or delivery right now (as of April 1, 2020)!
Food
In terms of food, our usual go-to appetizers are the arugula salad (so simple but so tasty) or the calamari (standard crispy on the outside and tender on the inside). For pastas, I usually go for the Pappardelle Sila. It’s super creamy and has tons of umami flavour from the wild mushrooms, prosciutto and porcini cream sauce. They also have specials and we recently tried their lobster ravioli which was quite excellent!

Aaron usually gets a pasta and our favourite is the Pirlo with mozzarella, prosciutto, arugula and parmiagiano. We’ve also tried he Enzo which is also very good with fior di latte, pepperori, soppressatta, sausage and mozzarella – definitely a meat-eater’s delight.
Service
Their service is always excellent.
Overall
I really enjoy this restaurant and I hope I will be able to visit again in the future once the pandemic is over. I dream of being able to host another birthday party in their dining room if possible.
