The heat wave which had hit Paris was officially gone! We started the day early with some French pastries again and I decided to have a chausson aux pommes, which was of course delicious. Then we are off on some intense long metro/bus journey to Le Chateau de Versailles. After not being able to find the bus to the palace and asking a locals who also were a bit confused, we made it to the grand, golden gates of this amazing palace. With the help of audio guides, we navigated this sumptuous site while learning about the stories behind each room. For lunch I had some delicious salmon and broccoli quiche. We then moved on to see the gardens and took some pictures – as Aimes begins to embrace the fun of being in pictures. After exhausting all our permutations of photo opportunities we move on to the streets of Champs Élysées! We started at the Concorde and worked our way to the Arc de Triomphe, where we had the chance to see a 360 view of Paris right above what we believed was the biggest roundabout in town. Along the way, we spoiled ourselves a little with some macaroons from Ladurée and some shopping. Dinner was at a nice French restaurant where we had a first real sit-down meal in Paris. Our duck, lamb, steak and lamb all tasted amazing. Dessert – creme brûlée – my fave! It’s been a long day, so I quickly passed out as soon as we got back to the apartment.
